The Gym Rat

20 Dec

Yep, that’s me! Last week, I signed up for my very first gym membership! This morning I put that membership to good use with 40 breezy minutes on the elliptical, while watching Freaky Friday. Ahh, Chad Michael Murray in his young days…good times, good times.

I am finding the whole gym atmosphere to be very motivating and positive for me. I think it will be great to have a place to go to just get away from everything and release some stress in a positive way. Perfect, no?

Plus, I am SUPER excited to try out some of the classes they have to offer.

Have you taken a gym class? Was it a good experience? Give me the details, peeps!

Before I left, I had this beauty:

The return of the breakfast cookie!

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • cinnamon + vanilla

Top with creamy PB and fresh blueberries. Chow down.

Lately, I’ve been all about warmth for my meals, especially breakfasts but I couldn’t resist this little gem when I woke up…and it actually hasn’t been too cold outside today. I better enjoy it while I can though, because wintry weather is supposed to hit us on Wednesday or Thursday! I am crossing my fingers for a very white Christmas. 🙂

I came home and made a simple lunchie:

What’s that under my egg-white puff?!?!

A SANDWICH THIN!!!!!

I have seen these numerous times all over bloggy land but could not for the life of me find them anywhere around here. Well a miracle happened last weekend and I found them! They are quite fantastic and definitely lived up to the hype. Two thumbs up from me. 😀

I had a juicy Harry and David pear with lunch that was awesome. Although I love all fruits, pears are definitely up there on the list. When they are good, they are GOOD.

For a snack this afternoon, I had this:

DSC01545

Chia puddin’ with fresh cut strawberries.

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 packet of Nunaturals stevia

Stir. wait 5 minutes. Stir. wait 5 minutes. Stir. and wait again. The longer they have to sit, the thicker they will be. You gotta try this ladies and gents.

Want to see my dinner from last night?

None other than, Meg’s orange cream salmon recipe! Check it. It’s delicious.

I had it along with some steamed cauliflower…with a side of terrible photography:

aka, green bean fries. 😉 Here’s to hope that new Canon i’ve been dreaming about is in my stocking this Friday.

Santa, if you’re reading this, I promise I’ve been good. Don’t listen to what anyone else has to say about this.

Now, if you can remember back to my last post (Yeah, it’s been a while..thank goodness it’s Christmas break now though!) I mentioned some Christmas shopping that I was planning on getting to. Well…yeah. That never happened. This girl had studying to do! So now that the stress and time-consumption of school is out of the way with for a while, I WILL be doing that Christmas shopping. TODAY. So with that being said, off the computer I go!

Is your Christmas shopping done? Or are you a procrastinator like me?

Kristi

That’s a pretty fantastic looking oat cookie you’ve got there. I want to make one!

I took a bootcamp gym class last winter and LOVED it! Definitely felt and saw the results.. I would like to take it again this year but it’s starting to get pretty crowded.

Hahaha.. my Christmas shopping is most definitely not done. However, I do only have two peeps left to shop for so it’s all good..sort of. I’ll be done by Tuesday. I have to be or else I’ll never get it done.

is it just me or do you look awfully tan in that first picture 😉

I used to take yoga and pilates classes all the time when I was living on campus. I loved it! It’s great having the hands on help from the instructor (it also helps if they’re hot ;)!) and it’s great support from the other people in the class. I recommend!

    lovely eats, sweetie pie 🙂

YOU FOUND ARNIE! He’s a stud! I love him! 😉

I’m with you and the studying and still needing to Christmas Shop! hhaa

The no pudge brownies taste nothing like a vitatop (dare I say that I think vitatops are overrated?!). Anyways…they are very very dense and fudgy and DELICIOUS! You have to mix in one container of yogurt and while it says to add vanilla yogurt, if you add a flavor such as cherry, strawberry, pina colada, etc…you get that flavor profile in your brownies. I also suggest cooking them in muffin pans because it’s just easier to deal with! MM MMM! Sorry for the run on sentence..it happens! 😉

Oh and you MUST try a spinning class. When I had a membership, I was addicted to the spinning classes…One thing to rememberr with ANY class is that the instructor has a HUGE effect on your experience, so if you don’t like a class…try it again with another instructor.

Do you like my book?! haha
