Nut Butter Gods

4 Feb

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! It is almost Super Bowl Weekend. Who will you be rooting for? Honestly, I know nothing about either one of the teams, and don’t watch that much, but I do enjoy the Super Bowl game…even if my favorite parts happen to be the commercials and half-time performances. 😉

Yesterday I received a gift from the nut butter gods:

011

012

I could have kissed the mailman.

Artisana was kind enough to send me some samples to review. I have dipped into both of the jars: Coconut Butter and Pecan Butter (which also has cashews in it.) One word: wow. This stuff is 100% organic and raw. No salt added or any other additives for that matter…and yet it tasted so rich and decadent!! It was no easy task putting the spoon down after diving into those. I proudly sported a little pecan butter food baby afterwards. And if you have been on the fence about trying coconut butter because of the price tag, just trust me on this one: It is worth it. Basically, it’s frosting in a jar…enough said.  I can’t wait to try the packets!

Much other deliciousness has been going down as well, that is, thanks to my lovely blogger friends and their creativity. For example…

Angela’s 15 minute Creamy Avocado Pasta:

004

I added spinach and some diced, cooked egg whites. This was SO AWESOME. Superb creaminess with a touch of garlicky love. I want to eat this every day!!

Christina’s Broccoli Slaw Pasta:

016014

Made with lean ground beef and marinara sauce. This was so simple. Just the way I like my meals to be.

Pumpkin Pie Filling Breakfast, based off of Gabriela.

005

007

1/2 cup oats

1/4 cup pumpkin

1/2 banana, mashed

1 packet Vega chocolate smoothie infusion

1/4 cup almond milk

cinnamon

mash together and store in the fridge overnight. Yep, it definitely tasted BETTER than pumpkin pie filling. With the addition of the Vega, this was a very energizing combination.

Julie’s Frozen Peanut Flour Popcorn:

016

I used 2 tbsp peanut flour for extra deliciousness which I highly recommend!

Lindsay had a great post that reminded me of my love for Amazing Grass:

009

Kidz wild berry flavor + almond milk = Heaven. They make the kidz one much tastier and less ‘grassy’ but still packed full over nutrients.

What ideas have you picked up from other bloggers lately?

Time to get to work! Happy weekend to you all!

Coming this weekend: I will be doing a post about where I’m at with working out, mainly talking about my experience with strength training. Weights are getting a great name in the blog world recently and I am loving it! It makes me so happy to see women embracing strength and power. Long gone are the days where super skinny is desirable…Muscles are HOT!!!

I wish Artisana would send me nut butters – they’re so expensive at the grocery store! 😦
That broccoli slaw pasta is calling my name (although I would sub TVP or chickpeas for the ground beef)!
