“tested” out

11 Apr

No, I’m not referring to  a new product I’ve recently tried…I’m talking about borin’ old TESTS. That pretty much sums up the reason for lack of blogging this week. Sorry guys! Good thing Summer is almost here! I can just taste it now…

Paradise.

Back to the testing, I knocked out a big chapter test in World History on Friday. But that was just a warm up for what was to come . I awoke very early this morning (not happily I may add) and made my way over to the college to take the ACT Test. Most stressful 4 hours of my life? Possibly.

Have you taken the ACT test? How did you do?

I fueled up with some good brain food before I left:

This creamy, dreamy mixture contained:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla
  • serving of protein powder
  • 1/2 sliced banana

I planned on filling my breakfast with chia seeds, hoping the Omega’s would boost my brain function for the test. Loooooove me some chia seeds. What a nutritional powerhouse they are. I always feel more energized when I have chia seeds compared to when I don’t use them. Awesome.

The test was definitely challenging to say the least. The most difficult thing about it was the time limit for each section. I didn’t get through a lot of it and therefore had to do some major guessing. But I tried my hardest and I’m glad it’s done with. Now I have to put it out of my mind because I won’t get the results for 3-8 weeks. Gah!

Afterwards, I came home to make just what I was craving…A nice big salad. It’s been awhile! Now that the weather is warming up, I’ve been wanting lighter, summery-er meals

It contained romaine, spinach, broccoli, sprouts, tomato, black beans, a Baby Bel cheese, and hummus dressing. The dressing was just Sabra’s hummus mixed with a little water. It was yummy!

Also had some peanut butter mouse!

greek yog mixed with 2 tbsp PB2. Peanut butter cheesecake right there.

And some snackage obviously occurred:

Raw Rev raspberry and chocolate bar.

date and almond butter wrapski. Delish combo! Unflattering photo…darn.

Dinner was a mixture of all the things I was craving as well. I snapped a quick photo before it was quickly devoured.

Turkey burger plus tomato, ketchup, mustard, and laughing cow on a whole wheat sandwich thin. Sweet potato with pb. Cucumber with light ranch dressing. I hardly ever use ranch dressing anymore as I usually prefer a vinaigrette of some sort, but there is something about that cuke plus ranch combo that is so good!

Dessert….

PB & J banana soft serve!

Ok seriously, do you think I’ve eaten enough nut butter today?! It’s an addiction, I tell you. Not that I mind one bit. 😉

The workout of the day was Turbo Jam. I don’t do it very often anymore because of all my strength training lovin’ but I really do love it! If I could recommend one DVD program, that would be it. It’s just plain fun! If you like to dance, you will like it!

****

I wanted to clarify one thing from my last post. The whole restaurant thing…I did not eat very much of my meal because I didn’t like it, not because I thought it too “unhealthy” for me. I definitely indulge in some not so healthy foods and as long as moderation is used, I think it is perfectly fine occasionally. I just did not find it appetizing to eat the syrup drenched sweet potato and the super oily fish. I just wanted to point this out and make sure you all realize that I’m not aiming for perfection with my eats…I’m just eating what I *want* and *crave*.

Now I’m going to kick back, relax, and enjoy the weekend! I hope you all can do the same!

Kristi

I’m a total nerd, but I enjoyed the ACT! Hated the SAT, though.

I feel you on the restaurant thing- I often find myself explaining that if I want an unhealthy meal, I’ll of course eat it! But if I don’t want it, I won’t eat it!

Oooo I love Raw Rev bars! Basically raw vegan candy 🙂

I’ve never done the ATC but I think that’s because it’s an American thing? At least I hope it’s an American thing because I’ve never heard of it. :p

That wrap with pb and dates looks SO good. I need to try that!

Yep, its a big American test you have to take to get into most colleges. You are lucky you don’t have to take it! 🙂

Ugh, I hate standardized tests!! And they always keep you cooped up for so long with no bathroom…not fun. I’ll bet you’re glad it’s over with!!

Loving all the nut butter action in this post, you can never have too much!!

Your peanut butter mousse is a great idea! I just love all the things that you can add to greek yogurt. I feel for ya on the A.C.T. Back when I took it, the Science part was always last and after hours of testing there is not way that I want to guess why the male squirrel chose the nut over the female or what plant is more likely to die before the other. haha

    YAY for that huge salad!
That sweet potato and tukey burguer meal looked delicious, too…
    Dee-lish!
    Have an amazing night, girl!

Hey I just found your blog! I’m a Junior so I’m pretty tight with Mr. ACT [insert major sarcasm]. You’ll get your results in 3 weeks or so, not 8 weeks unless something went wrong at your testing center. And if you don’t like your score, you can take it again! Yay!! [again, sarcasm]

Hey! Thanks for the info…I definitely did not want to wait eight weeks for the results. I want to know NOW! haha
